Curated by Lynn Gamwell, author of Dreams 1900-2000-Art, Science, and the Unconscious Mind, this exhibition traces the complex, evolving relationship between the visual arts and psychoanalytic thought throughout the 20th century and up to present day.  According to this  thoughtful survey, the works of  Jonathan Borovsky, Max Ernst, Eric Fischl, Lucien Freud, Arshile Gorky, Roberto Matta, Jackson Pollock, and Scherer & Ouporov, among others, served as visual manifestations of Freud’s “unconscious” musings.  Gamwell states:  “…Scherer and Ouporov and Jonathan Borovsky examine the fraught relationship between dreams and the waking life.”
